A Gold Pass member asked for a tutorial which talked about custom sessions. Custom sessions allow the user to create a ‘window’ through which to view a symbol’s data. For example, the following is a 30 minute GBPUSD chart with the session set to ‘regular session.’
We might be only interested in what occurs during the open of the markets in London, between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. New York time, i.e. the bars highlighted in this edited image:
To only see these bars we can created a customer session as follows:
Which results in the following:
But perhaps we want to see the custom session in the ‘context’ of the regular session. This can be achieved by adding the GBPUSD symbol again with the same bar length, as follows:
The same data stream is moved to the same sub graph as the custom session and the style is changed so that the two streams may be distinguished from one-another:
You could go a step further and add another customer session (9:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., mirroring part of the Hong Hong market times), as follows:
