Quick-tip 47 | Hiding the last bar on the chart

A Gold Pass member asked whether there is a way to hide the last bar on the chart. Quick-tip 47 demonstrates one way of doing this.

Since not displaying the last bar could result in a user not noticing or being slower to react to an adverse (or positive) move in the market, so it should only be used with a simulated account. Quick tip 47 also shows how to add a warning message.

The PaintBar study works by using the GetBackgroundColor keyword to determine the chart’s background color. On the last bar on chart, this is used in a PlotPB statement to effectively paint over the last bar. On the last tick of this bar NoPlot is used to remove the PaintBar and hence the bar can be seen again.

The PaintBar also draws a warning message on the chart. This is positioned using ChartingHost capabilities and drawn using the TextLabel object.  See the video for a more detailed overview of the quick-tip program.
