Tutorial 148 demonstrates how data from one program (or the same program applied several times) can be shared with another program applied to a RadarScreen workspace. In this tutorial a ‘sender’ program is applied three times (three columns in Radarscreen). It calculated the CCI (Commodity Channel Index) and the Length input is a different value for each of the three columns. The calculated information is plotted and also stored in a Global Dictionary. One instance of a ‘receiver’ program is also applied to Radarscreen (a fourth column). This ‘receiver’ program ‘reads’ the information from the Global Dictionary and plots the information calculated by the sender programs.
This example is very simple and, of course, the information in the receiver program could easily be calculated in that program in this case, but these techniques are useful in other applications where you need to share information from one program to another.
Bear in mind that the ‘receiver’ program does not allow you to query what the values were for previous bars. To do so would require storing the data historically.
